The torrents of mud and stones that descended from Mount Cameroon having completely destroyed the water collection and distribution system for the Buea Town area, the populations were deprived of drinking water.

UNICEF in collaboration with the Environmental Protection and Development Association (EPDA) and other WASH partners, quickly set up a system of 5 water tanks for a total of 25,000 liters daily supplied by water tracking for the benefit of the population and distributed anti-bacterial soaps.

UNICEF is working at the same time to repair and restore the regular collection system shortly.

UNICEF saves lives in fragile contexts by trucking water, treating piped water, repairing broken water supply and sanitation systems, drilling wells, building temporary latrines, providing essential hygiene items and delivering hygiene messages.
